Annual Awards and Criteria

ASCE New Orleans Branch

 

Criteria: To become an ASCE Life Member, an individual must . . .

  • have reached the age of 65 years
  • have paid dues in any membership grade except Student Member for at least thirty (30) years
  • Age + ASCE Membership years = 95
  • have had ten (10) years of continuous dues-paying membership immediately preceding the attainment of Life Member.

Outstanding Young Civil Engineer

 

Since 1995, the ASCE New Orleans Branch has been annually recognizing an

Outstanding Young Civil Engineer. Recipients must be 35 years of age or younger, a

member of ASCE Louisiana Section, and a licensed Engineering Intern or Professional

Engineer. The candidates are evaluated on their involvement in ASCE, service to the

advancement to the civil engineering profession, service to the community outside of

the field of engineering, technical accomplishment, and other evidence of merit or

character.

 

Outstanding Civil Engineer

 

Since 1995, the ASCE New Orleans Branch has been annually recognizing an

Outstanding Civil Engineer. Recipients must be a member of ASCE Louisiana Section

and a licensed Professional Engineer. The candidates are evaluated on their

involvement in ASCE, service to the advancement to the civil engineering profession,

service to the community outside of the field of engineering, technical accomplishment,

and other evidence of merit or character.

 

Outreach Award

 

The ASCE New Orleans Branch annually recognizes one of our own for what they do

outside of their work. We recognize this individual with the Outreach Award. Recipients

must be a member of ASCE Louisiana Section and a licensed Professional Engineer.

The candidates are evaluated on their involvement in ASCE, service to the

advancement to the civil engineering profession, service to the community outside of

the field of engineering, and other evidence of merit or character. This award honors

those committed to inspiring the next generation of civil engineers.

 

Educator of the Year

 

Since 2005 the ASCE New Orleans Branch has been recognizing an Educator of the

Year. The candidates are evaluated on their involvement in ASCE, service to the

advancement of civil engineering education, service to the community outside of the

field of engineering, technical accomplishment, and other evidence of merit or

character.

 

Life Achievement Award:

 

Since 1995, the ASCE New Orleans Branch has been annually recognizing members

for their Lifetime Achievement. Recipients must be 55 years of age or older, a Fellow or

Life Member of ASCE Louisiana Section, and a licensed Professional Engineer. The

candidates are evaluated on their lifetime involvement in ASCE, lifetime achievement in

the profession of civil engineering, technical accomplishment, character, and integrity.

 

President Medal Award:

 

Since 1995, the ASCE New Orleans Branch Presidents has been annually recognizing

one member for his special services. Branch President picks a member (preferably not

on Branch Board), who have provided the services to the branch sincerely and

unselfishly beyond the call of duty. The award is decided solely at Branch President’s

discretion.
