2022 ASCE New Orleans Branch Outreach Award winner
Congratulations to the 2022 ASCE New Orleans Branch Outreach Award winner, Ms. Rebecca Gaspard. Ms. Gaspard is an Environmental Scientist for CK Associates. This year, with ASCE, she volunteered at the first annual Mud Fest at the Louisiana Children’s Museum where volunteers guided kids through play-based learning. She also volunteered with the Pontchartrain Conservancy to plant Cypress and Tupelo trees in the Louisiana marshes. In previous years, she volunteered at the Southeast Louisiana Girl Scouts BIG Event as well as a few STEM Fairs.
Outside of ASCE, Ms. Gaspard volunteers with local STEM groups to help present biological and engineering topics to elementary and middle school students. She is also heavily involved with WTS and WTS Scholarships. She brings her many years of experience in WTS to ASCE and is helping our Outreach efforts grow. Ms. Gaspard is also a SOUL NOLA (Sustaining Our Urban Landscape) planting native trees throughout the Greater New Orleans Area. She is currently enrolled in the Louisiana Master Gardner (LMG) program. The program aims to provide the knowledge to locals to help our neighbors and communities through gardening. She also spends her own time volunteering with the Pontchartrain Conservancy and the Louisiana Children’s Museum.
