Congratulations to the 2022 ASCE New Orleans Branch Outstanding Civil Engineer Award winner, Gwendolyn Sanders, PE. She resides here in New Orleans with her husband and son. When she is not working, mentoring, and volunteering, she enjoys music and hiking.  Mrs. Sanders received her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of New Orleans. She began working at Eustis Engineering almost 30 years ago and is now the President of the company. Here she has earned the reputation as the go-to person for all engineering-related things. Throughout her career, she has touched more than 4,000 projects. She is a licensed engineer in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.

Mrs. Sanders is involved in a number of engineering societies and in fact, was instrumental in the formation of the Louisiana Geo-Institute and now serves as the current Vice Chairman. She gives back to UNO by serving on the UNO Advisory Board for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She is also a mentor and Alumni Advisor of the UNO Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. Mrs. Sanders is currently working on developing a new standard similar to the ASCE 07 but for an ASCE Design of Foundations for Buildings and Other Structures. Her focus on this committee is on two of the primary chapters: site characterization and deep foundations, specifically drive piles. Mrs. Sanders’ professional accomplishments do not end here; her dedication to the profession and community is apparent and one of the reasons she has been selected for this award.
