2022 ASCE New Orleans Branch Wall of Fame Award winner
Congratulations to the 2022 ASCE New Orleans Branch Wall of Fame Award winner, Mr. Zolan Prucz. He has been at Modjeski and Masters for almost 40 years. He currently serves as Senior Vice President. Mr. Prucz got his bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and his master’s in Civil Engineering and Structures from the Israel Institute of Technology and his PhD in Civil Engineering and Structures from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is licensed in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Michigan, Alaska, and Ontario, Canada.
Mr. Prucz is fortunate to have been involved in a variety of challenging projects ranging from design, evaluation, and retrofit of fixed and movable bridges to evaluations of effects of vessel impact and seismic loads on bridges, effects of fatigue and corrosion on steel bridges and effects of deterioration on timber bridges. A few of his accomplishments include leading the development of the first risk-based vessel collision criteria and methodology for the design of bridge piers against ship collision, authoring the vessel collision design guidelines for movable bridges contained in the AASHTO LRFD Movable Highway Bridge Design Specifications, leading the development of innovative pier protection systems against vessel collision, such as the I-10 Mississippi River precast concrete modular fender system, and so many more.
