2023 ASCE New Orleans Branch Outstanding Civil Engineer Award winner
Congratulations to the 2023 ASCE New Orleans Branch Outstanding Civil Engineer Award winner, Christopher Humphreys, PE. Chris has been an active member of ASCE since 1994. He has held the positions of past president for both the New Orleans Branch and the Louisiana Section. Adding to his list of accomplishments, Chris was recently elected as ASCE’s Region 5 Governor.
Chris holds the position of Director of Engineering for the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority. His role involves overseeing the engineering, operations, and maintenance of the HSDRRS system on the east bank. Chris manages a substantial $50M annual capital budget, takes charge of quarterly and annual inspections of the HSDRRS system, and oversees floodgate closure and re-opening during storms.
Chris was previously an Executive Vice President at Intertek PSI, where he managed engineering projects spanning the domains of flood control, transportation, health care, land development, education, stadium design, geotechnical engineering, and construction materials testing.
